May 1st - Licensing and Confirmation service in Bordeaux

What a joy to gather together on 1st May to praise God and support Nellie Salvi, being licensed as a Reader, and Heather Gardiner, being confirmed. A moving experience after several years of theological studies and challenges.

Bishop Robert Innes, Archdeacon Peter Hooper, and Chaplain Tony Lomas led a beautiful service in the Eglise St Pierre in the centre of Bordeaux, accompanied by Richard Hunt on the 19th century pipe organ. Somewhat of an organisational feat on French Labour Day but the morning went exceedingly smoothly - our prayers were indeed answered.

Friends from around the Chaplaincy made the journey, including the Revds Angela and David Marshall, and Anne Penfold who came by train and then continued by bicycle. Chaplaincy of Aquitaine Readers are unique in every way!

Following the worship service, the Salvis offered champagne accompanied by some of Pamela's famous miniature sandwiches. For those who were able to stay longer, the fellowship continued with a simple lunch but rich discussions at the different tables. We are grateful to Bishop Robert and Archdeacon Peter for spending precious time with us before heading north (thanks to Area Dean and driver Tony!) for another commitment in the Vendée.We are blessed.
